Some of the most common types of injuries sustained in 18-wheeler accidents are:  

• Spinal cord injuries. Spinal cord injuries are the result of the force of the collision, the position of the occupants, and the nature of the accident (i.e., direct impact, rollover accident, crushing injuries, penetrating injuries, etc.). Damage to the spinal cord may lead to paralysis or other long-term disabilities.
• Head and neck injuries. Whiplash is a common injury in 18-wheeler accidents, caused by the sudden movement of the head and neck during a collision. While whiplash is one of the most common head/neck injuries, you may also sustain a herniated disc, a pinched nerve, facet joint injuries, neck fractures, or cuts and lacerations.  
• Traumatic brain injuries (TBIs). Head impacts from collisions can cause TBIs, ranging from mild concussions to severe brain damage. These injuries can have long-lasting effects on cognitive function, memory, and motor skills.  
• Lacerations. Broken glass or sharp metal from the wreckage can cause deep cuts and lacerations. These injuries can lead to significant blood loss, scarring, and potential infections.  
• Fractures. The force of an 18-wheeler accident can easily break bones, especially in high-speed collisions or rollovers. Common fractures include those of the skull, ribs, arms, and legs.  
• Internal injuries. The impact of a collision can cause internal organs to be damaged or ruptured, leading to internal bleeding and potentially life-threatening complications.
• Disfiguring injuries. A disfiguring injury results in marked and potentially irreversible alteration to an individual's physical appearance, such as burns, traumatic amputations, or severe lacerations.
