El Paso, Texas, Criminal Law Attorney
At the El Paso, Texas, Law Offices of Ruben Ortiz, the client always comes first. We are devoted to providing the highest quality legal representation for our clients from the moment they contact us. If you or a family member has been charged with a state or federal criminal law violation, you need an experienced, aggressive criminal defense attorney right away. Contact us immediately to ensure that your Constitutional rights are protected and you receive aggressive, effective representation.
When we handle criminal defense cases, the first step is to go to court to schedule a bond reduction hearing or a hearing to set a bond for those clients that do not have a bond set. This is a very important step for those clients whose bond was set unfairly high—to such an amount that the client’s family cannot afford—and for those clients who may not have a bond set. We understand how important it is for our clients to be out of the county jail and be together with their families while their cases proceed through the legal channels.
After our clients are home with their families, the next step is for us to contact the court administration office notifying them that we are the attorneys of record. The court administration office will then notify us of court dates.
We will appear with you at all of your court dates.
We will look for the weaknesses of the evidence and mistakes the police made in investigating your case. We will interview you and any witnesses who can help us to defend your case. We will look for evidence that could be favorable in defending your case. We will try to find ways that your case can be dismissed. We will scrutinize legal technicalities, such as whether or not the police obtained evidence or performed the arrest illegally. We will file motions to suppress the illegally obtained evidence. If the court agrees and finds that the evidence was obtained illegally, then the charges may be dismissed.
If the charges cannot be dismissed, then we will work with the District Attorney’s Office in order to negotiate a favorable plea agreement to try to avoid jail or prison time. We know how important your freedom is to you and your family.
If we cannot have the case dismissed against you or obtain a favorable plea agreement, then we will use our experience to fight your case up through a jury trial.
