Ruben Ortiz

Ruben Ortiz was born and raised in El Paso, County Texas. He began his education at Aoy Elementary School. Mr. Ortiz graduated from Coronado High School in 1987, then obtained a Bachelors in Business Administration from the University of Texas at El Paso in 1992. He obtained his Juris Doctorate Degree (JD) from Washburn University and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) Degree from Washburn University in 1997. Mr. Ortiz obtained both degrees simultaneously. Mr. Ortiz has gained all of his legal experience through working for private law firms. While Mr. Ortiz was in law school, he had the opportunity to work for one of the most respected personal injury law firms in the capital City of Topeka Kansas. Mr. Ortiz worked as a Law Clerk for seven attorneys who practiced workers compensation law, personal injury, employment law, and social security law. At this law firm, Mr. Ortiz learned how to talk with clients who had been injured and were requiring the help of attorneys. Mr. Ortiz also learned the law as it applied to the needs of all of the Law firm's clients. Mr. Ortiz would research the law for the seven attorneys who made up the law firm. Mr. Ortiz was active in writing for all seven attorneys some of this work was being produced for clients who's cases where being appealed to the Court of Appeals in Kansas and for the Federal Courts. Once Mr. Ortiz graduated from Law School, he decided to go back to his home, El Paso, Texas. Then he began to work for a prominent law firm handling serious injury cases, medical malpractice loses and wrongful death cases in El Paso, Texas. Mr. Ortiz was a law clerk for this law firm and he was able to work among some of the most respected personal injury attorneys in the El Paso, Texas area. Mr. Ortiz was helping the law firm with interviewing clients, research and writing and pre-trial litigation. After gaining more experience at this law firm and awaiting the results of the Texas Bar Examination, Mr. Ortiz had the opportunity to go with one of the most respected and best trial lawyers in El Paso, Texas this is where Mr. Ortiz was introduced to criminal law. He worked along side this highly regarded trial lawyer and gained even more experience through his interactions with working at this law firm.
 
Once Mr. Ortiz became licensed to practice law, he opened up his law practice and focused on helping those who have to fight against the bigger and more powerful, against the government and big insurance companies. Mr. Ortiz is proud to say that he has never been a government lawyer, that he has never prosecuted anyone and that he has gained all of his legal experience through fighting against government attorneys and big insurance company law firms.
